Daddy, help me! Daddy, where are you?

There’s a Silent Hill movie coming out next spring. Other blogs have noted that it’s being written by Roger Avary (of Pulp Fiction, Crying Freeman, and Killing Zoe fame) and directed by Christophe Gans, but noone else seems to remember Brotherhood of the Wolf, the Dangerous Liaisons meets Soul Calibur 2 movie that proves that Christophe Gans is the perfect person to make a movie out of a video game. It’s not the best movie ever made, but it’s definitely one of the most “video-gamey” movies I’ve ever seen, and gives me a lot of faith in his treatment of Silent Hill.

In the meantime, here’s a completely-unrelated amateur Silent Hill trailer.

This is prolly a better pic for this. The first in-film shot featuring Cybil and Rose.

I saw that one, but since it really ONLY shows the two women I thought that it was to ambiguous, and less evocative of Silent Hill than the “rusted stuff” picture I used. :) X

[…] Surprisingly, it looks like I’m not the only super-genius in the world, because someone else actually WAS tasked with making a Dead or Alive movie, did exactly what I outlined above, and created a trailer to prove it. My prognosis is that this is not going to be a cinematic masterpiece, but will do much better than expected, and may, arguably, turn out to be the best video-game-to-movie conversion yet, at least until Silent Hill comes out. I should note at this point that I’m often wrong. […]

Just dropping a note to say that we’ve been showing Brotherhood of the Wolf to as many people as we can. Great movie. Loads of fun, and as a bonus, all the Lord of the Rings fans have highly trained bladders, so they can sit through the whole thing in one go!
